After getting to the north of the island, we were not seeing many marks on the fish finder. We landed 2 kokes, lost 2 kokes and hooked a few corn stealers.” “My client came out for an instructional trip,” he noted. “We were koke fishing first and switched gears to trolling for trout, We ended up with a mixed bag limit. We caught some good trout and kings on the red hot RMT pink flash serpent spoon – it’s been deadly out there the past 3 trips for ‘bows, kings and, yes, kokes. Just ask Rob Reimers of Rustic Rob’s Guide Service, who reported excellent kokanee action on his two latest trips to Bullards. “Three anglers caught their 10 fish limits of kokanee,” said Reimers after the first trip. “We saw nicer fish this trip, with six fish in the 13 to 14 inch range and the rest averaging 12 to 12-1/2 inches. We also hooked a few 10 to 11 inch fish.” “The fish are beginning to move into the fingers of the lake as they set up for the fall spawn,” he noted. “We hooked them at 55 to 75 feet deep on the Brad’s Kokanee Series Cut Plugs behind Paulina Peak Dodgers.” On the next trip, Reimers reported, “We had another limits kind of day at Bullards. Paulina Peak dodges and Brad’s KCP cut plugs are a deadly combo when it comes to kokanee fishing. The fish went up to 14 inches and hit at 45 to 65 feet.” Bullards Bar is holding 680,874 feet of water, 70 percent of capacity and 101 Sacramento & Feather River Salmon Trips! 24ft Alumaweld Jet Boat G-Loomis & Shimano Gear Provided Salmon • Trout • Stripers Shad • Steelhead • Sturgeon Professional Guide Robert Weese since 1985. The day-use vehicle quota is filled by 8:00 a.m. on the weekends while the boat quota is filled a bit later in the mornings. With the triple-digit temperatures, recreational boat traffic dominates the lake, and the only fishing takes place in the early mornings or late afternoons when the recreational boating has ceased. The holdover rainbows are in the deepest part of the lake in the main channel towards the dam while catfishing is best from the bank at night with chicken livers, cut baits, or nightcrawlers, The lake is holding at 65 percent of capacity. - Dave Hurley CLEAR LAKE Heat Wave Doesn’t Stop Bass from Hitting CLEARLAKE - In spite of the recent heat wave, largemouth bass fishing has been “outstanding” at Clear Lake. On one trip, Bill McDaniel of Limit Out Bait and Tackle and Bob Bradshaw found top-notch action while drifting and slow trolling with swimbaits, Senkos and jigs. The best action has been early and late in the day on most trips. “We caught and released around 2 dozen fish,” said McDaniel. “Our big fish was a 7 pounder that I hooked while using a 4.8 inch Keiteh swimbait, but most of the fish were in the 2 to 3 pound range. The fish were holding at 15 to 25 feet deep. We fished a bunch of different areas, including Shag Rock, Henderson Point, Anderson Island and Rattlesnake Point.” On his latest trip, McDaniel and Tom CONTINUED ON PG 16 Join us for a unique experience that will keep your family coming back year after year!
