“The salmon are hitting Brad’s Cut Plugs
at 30 to 60 feet deep,” said Reimers. “The
key to getting fish is to keep moving and
changing the colors of Brad’s Kokanee
Cut Plugs that we’re using.”
Bidwell Canyon and Lake Oroville
Marinas reopened on May 18. Due to
ongoing concerns for the spread of
COVID-19, some services will continue
to be restricted or suspended for an
undetermined time. Please contact the
appropriate Marina for the most current
information and please plan your visit
accordingly.
Campgrounds and high public-use
indoor facilities, including museums and
visitor centers, continue to be closed.
Special events and tours continue to be
canceled until further notice.
Lake Oroville is currently holding
2,445,249 acre feet of water, 69 percent of
average and 83 percent of capacity.

Trollers Lay Into Scrappy
Kokanee Salmon
IONE - The lake is open for fishing,
boating, hiking, and day-use, and 2000
pounds of Mt. Lassen rainbow trout
were released prior to the Memorial Day
holiday. The Pardee Marina/Camp store
and the Pardee Cafe will be closed for
now, so come prepared.
Nightcrawlers, trout dough bait, and ice
are available for sale at the front gate.
Gate hours are 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Limits of small kokanee are the rule at
depths from 25 to 45 feet with a variety of
kokanee gear. Alan Fong, manager of the
Fishermen’s Warehouse in Sacramento,
put in 3 limits to 13 inches this week by
8:30 a.m. running his custom Apex-type
lures or pink hoochies.

Service found easy kokanee action up the
river arm with a variety of kokanee gear
including Trinidad’s Tackle, MAG Tackle,
and Paulina Peak tackle. The majority of
the fleet is concentrating at the mouth of
the river. With the cold water, trout plants
will continue through the summer months.

It’s Time For Bass and Panfish
HERALD - The Rancho Seco Recreation
Area is currently open for day use and
hard sided RV camping. Fishing in the
lake has switched over from trout fishing
to targeting warm water species including
largemouth bass, redear sunfish, bluegill,
crappie and channel catfish.
Park hours have been restored to
seasonal standard 7 AM – 6 PM (Monday
– Sunday)
Social distancing rules are in effect and
no groups larger than 10 may congregate
in the park. Also there is a maximum of
120 vehicles allowed into the facility at a
time to limit crowding
and promote proper
social distancing.
The park will close
once this number is
reached.
Any type of group
gatherings are not
permitted.
Most restrooms
are open with the
exception of the
beach area.
The beach is
closed and fenced
off. Swimming is not
allowed.
Showers are
closed. There is
no tent camping
available at this
time.
Permitted
activities include
hiking. fishing,
kayaking/boating
(Boat rentals
are available),
a dog park
and picnicking
(BBQ). RV sites
are active with
reservations.

“The trout fishing has been good for
rainbows in the 17 to 18 inch class and
some of the fish are even bigger. We’ve
been targeting the fish while back trolling
small Mag Lip plugs,” related Captain
Mike Bogue of Mike Bogue’s Guide
Service.
On the fly fishing front, anglers are
utilizing indicators and long leaders to
present stonefly and mayfly nymphs along
with sucker spawn imitations.
The salmon season the Sacramento
is slated to kick on in mid-July. If you’d
like to hook up with a king or two once
the season gets going, you should start
planning your trip now as guides tend to
be very busy during the first couple weeks
of the season.

fish the river for rainbows and kings. Mike

BRENTWOOD - Chris Ditter of
Headrush Sportfishing finished his spring
Delta striper season with top-notch action.
On one of his last two trips, a total of
four anglers, including the Brad’s Killer
Fish crew, Rob Reimers of Rustic Rob’s
Guide Service, and Ditter’s friend, Steve,
caught limits to 7--1/2 pounds on the
San Joaquin River at Antioch and the
Sacramento River at Rio Vista.
