“ The salmon conditions are improving . More were caught today and the water temp and color are headed in the right direction . Salmon could bust wide open any day ,” he noted . The 19 anglers aboard the New Sea Angler landed 5 Chinook salmon , 1 lingcod and 190 rockfish while fishing off the Sonoma County Coast on May 6 . On the previous day , the 11 anglers aboard the boat bagged 6 Chinook salmon and 110 rockfish , according to Captain Rock Powers .

Rockfish Continue to Provide Most Consistent Action
SANTA CRUZ - Private boaters are experiencing the top action on salmon in Monterey Bay while trolling as private boat fishermen land limits of rockfish and a few lingcod off the Santa Cruz and Monterey County Coast . “ The salmon were on the bite today on the west edge of the Soquel Hole up to 3 Tree ,” reported Todd Fraser of Bayside Marine . “ The anglers caught limits trolling Krippled Anchovies and Blue Kajikis 130-180 feet down . The salmon were in the 12-20 pound range and fighting hard . The anglers near Moss Landing struggled to get a bite despite the amount of bait in the area . The few anglers near Davenport caught a few salmon , but the bite was better closer
