Steven Burke , a former pitcher for the Boston Red Sox and Seattle Mariners , caught and released this 33 pound striped bass during a trip to the San Joaquin River with Captain James Netzel of Tight Lines Guide Service on April 28 . Despite the windy weather , the five anglers aboard the boat were able to catch their limits of stripers while trolling deep-diving Yo-Zuri Crystal Minnows . Striper fishing on the Delta has been very good lately for anglers trolling lures , drifting live bait and tossing out jerkbaits and other lures .
