Captain of the Lovely Martha . “ On June 4 , Captain Bob ran the boat and reported in with over 2 fish a rod ,” said Rescino . “ The final count was 38 halibut and 1 delicious bass for 19 anglers . The anglers drifted live bait in 20 feet of water in the South Bay near the Alameda Rockwall . “ On June 3 , Captain Frank Rescnio ran the boat and reported in with excellent fishing , finishing up with 30 halibut and 2 striped bass for 12 anglers . On May 31 , the boat finished up early with 9 limits ( 27 ) of halibut . The previous trip to the Berkeley Flats aboard the Lovely Martha also produced 22 limits of halibut ( 66 ) to 17 pounds and one bass . James Smit of California Dawn Sportfishing reported wide-open halibut fishing on June 4 . “ The 46 anglers on the California Dawn 1 and California 2 landed full limits of halibut and 10 striped bass while drifting live bait ,” said smith . On June 3 , the 19 anglers aboard the California Dawn 1 finished up the day over a fish and a half per rod . They caught 30 halibut to 12 pounds and 2 striped bass . Chad Aho of baycharterboats . com reported that 5 people landed 6 halibut , 1 striper and a leopard shark while drifting live bat in the Berkeley Flats on his latest fishing adventure .

Salmon Offer Hit and Miss Action , Rockfishing Holds Steady

SANTA CRUZ –. The salmon fishing has been “ hit and miss ” for trollers and moochers fishing Monterey Bay , while rockfishing has been good for party boat anglers fishing the reefs of the Monterey and Santa Cruz County Coast . “ There were a few decent scores caught from Ano Nuevo to Pigeon Point ,” said Todd Fraser of Bayside Marine on Saturday , June 4 . “ The area in front of Moss Landing produced a few fish on the edge of the canyon .” “ The rock fishing was slow in the shallow water , but there were some nice fish caught in the deeper water . The halibut fishing slowed due to the south swell . The wind was down all day due to the fog ,” he noted . On June 3 , Fraser said the anglers trolling from Mulligan Hill to Soldiers Club found a few salmon in 170-220 feet of water . “ The majority of action is coming from the bottom . There were some salmon caught in front of Moss Landing on the canyon edge . The fish in that area were caught 140-200 feet down . I did not get many reports from the Soquel Hole , but there were a few fish caught at 3 Trees . The best action for salmon was from Davenport to Pigeon Point . “ The swell slowed the halibut bite . The rock fishing was good in the deeper water near Wilder Beach . The wind stayed down due to the fog ,” he added .
