LAKE OROVILLE
Kings and Spotted Bass Top Angling Menu
OROVILLE – Hard-working anglers are picking up some hardfighting king salmon at Lake Oroville as the water level continues to drop . Dave Koistinen reported catching two king salmon measuring 22.5 and 23 inches while trolling at Lake Oroville on Labor Day from from 7 am to 10:30 am . “ I got 2 bites and landed both kings ,” he stated on the Lake Oroville Fishing Reports Facebook Page . “ I caught one on Tornado Flashers 8 ” watermelon 360 with a tuna filled kokanee cut plug at 90 ft . and the other on a Tornado Flashers 8 ” watermelon triangle with a Trinidad bait head anchovy at 100 ft . The surface water temperature was 77 degrees . I trolled the Green Bridge east wall area .” On his previous trip , Koistinen reported 3 bites , landing one small king while fishing on a Tornado 8 ” watermelon triangle and an anchovy at a 110 feet deep . “ I was marking fish between 120-150 ft . The surface water temperature was 77 degrees and the temperature at 100 feet was 50 degrees ,” he explained . NEW MELONES / DON PEDRO LAKES
Large Channel Cats On Night Bite
ANGELS CAMP – If you want to hook big channel catfish ,
try night fishing at New Melones Reservoir . Kyle Wise of HeadHunter SportFishing has been finding success on evening catfish trips at New Melones . He reported catching an average of 10 fish per evening while fishing cut bait , including mackerel , sardines and anchovies . “ The fish range from 3 to 15 pounds and average around 8 pounds ,” said Wise . “ On my latest trip , Stacey Barawed hooked 8 catfish , landing 3 fish to 8 pounds .” Barawed is the host of Stacy Goes Outside on YouTube . Wise said the trout and kokanee fishing is still “ decent ” at New Melones . “ The kokanee go up to 18 inches and are starting to turn ,” he stated . “ Anglers are trolling Apex lures , tipped with white corn , for the kokanee . The kokanee are starting to make their way up the river arm . Rainbow , trout ranging from planter to 7 pounds , can be caught down to 50 feet deep .” New Melones is holding 635,625 acre feet of water , 26 percent of capacity and 46 percent of average . Don Pedro Lake is also a good location to pursue catfish . “ The catfish are

more numerous at Don Pedro , but they ’ re not as big as they are at New Melones ,” said Wise . “ A buddy and I fished from 7 a . m . to 10 a . m . on a recent trip to the lake . We landed 10 catfish up to 6 pounds . The fish averaged 2 to 3 pounds each .” While the kokanee bite is done for the year at Don Pedro as they swim up the Tuolumne River arm on their annual spawning migration , the king salmon and rainbow trout fishing remains solid at Lake Don Pedro for the few anglers getting out . Don Pedro is holding 1,095,715 acre feet of water , 54 percent of capacity and 76 percent of average .

PARDEE / CAMANCHE LAKES
Trollers Bag Rainbows and Kokanee
SACRAMENTO – Although Pardee Lake is producing mixed catches of kokanee salmon , rainbow trout and lightning trout for boaters , very few anglers have been going out lately in the hot weather . Big fish honors for this summer go to David Sutch , who caught a 10.6 lb . rainbow trout while trolling with Matt Urban of Urban Escape Guide Service . Boaters are hooking kokanee salmon at 90 to 100 feet deep on spinners , hoochies and micro spinner hoochies , tipped with white corn , up the river arm from the mouth to Deer Island . The trout are hitting hit Speedy Shiners at 40 to 55 feet deep . The kokanee average 11 to 13 inches and are starting to “ turn ” as the fish prepare for their annual spawning run up the Mokelumne River . The rainbow trout average 2 to 2-1 / 2 pounds and go up to 5 pounds . On the most recent trout / kokanee combo made by Robbie Dunham of Koke Machine Guide Service ,
