two anglers landed 20 total fish , including 8 lighting trout , 6 rainbow trout and 6 kokanee salmon . Bank fishing for trout is slow at Pardee at this time . The trout plants are suspended until further notice when the surface water temperatures cool down . For channel catfish , anglers should toss out mackerel , chicken liver , sardines , nightcrawlers and other baits at night . Pardee Lake is now holding 197,150 acre feet of water , 70 percent capacity and 97 percent of average . At Lake Camanche , anglers can catch rainbow trout from 30 to 50 feet deep over the river channel while using Speedy Shiners in four or five colors . Trout plants will resume when the surface water cools down enough for stocking to begin in October . Lake Camanche is holding 205,210 acre feet of water , 49 percent of capacity and 78 percent of average .

Flippers , Punchers Battle Delta Largemouths
SACRAMENTO - If you want to hook largemouth bass on the North Delta , flipping and punching with Bursh Hogs is your top prospect now . “ Denise Loo , Dave Clark and I caught and released between 25 and 30 bass on our latest trip to Liberty Island and Prospect Island ,” said Alan Fong of Fisherman ’ s Warehouse . The fish ranged from 1-1 / 2 to 4-1 / 2 pounds . Denise caught the biggest fish . We were flipping and punching Brush Hogs in green pumpkin , blue fluke and watermelon .” “ The striper fishing was also good in this area the previous week , but the water temperature went from 70
to 78 degrees , slowing the striper bite . We had an awesome top water bite first thing in the morning , catching from 6 to 10 stripers per trip before we switched over to bass fishing . We landed stripers to 12 pounds while throwing Whopper Poppers and Zara Spooks in the grass in 2 to 3 feet of water . “ Fong noted that boaters continue to catch a lot of stripers while trolling Yo-Zuri Deep Divers on the West Bank of Sacramento below Rio Vista . “ Anglers are catching good numbers of 6 to 8 pound fish , along with an occasional larger fish to 15 pounds ,” : he reported . Largemouth bass fishing remains steady on the San Joaquin River and adjacent sloughs in the Central Delta . To hook the bigger fish , anglers can expect to catch and release lots of small males , reported Steve Cooper of Stockton , the host of “ In Deep on the Delta ” Weekly Fishing Report on Thursdays on YOUTUBE . COM . “ The bigger fish are being caught by anglers fishing plastic frogs and punching in the weed mats ,” he advised . Brannan Island State Recreation Area is open on weekends-only from 8:00 a . m . to 7:00 p . m ., and it has been extended until October 1st . A new concessionaire is being recruited for fulltime duty . Only the launch ramp and nearby day-use area is open as the other parts of the park remain closed . Toxic bluegreen algae has been present in many areas of the Delta including Frank ’ s Tract Recreational Area .

Fly Anglers Target Rainbows and Browns On Truckee TRUCKEE – This was a great season for kokanee salmon at Stampede , but the action is at its tail end as the fish stage to go up the Little Truckee River to spawn . “ On the last trip of the season for me , Stampede did not give up her bounty easily ,” said James Netzel of Tight Lines Guide Service . “ We experienced a great bite until around 8:30 a . m . Then there was a big slowdown .” “ At 10 a . m . my clients said they had enough with 15 kokanee . I asked for another 10-15 minutes because I didn ’ t want the fish to win on my last trip . Luckily , I found a big school and cleaned up quickly ,” he concluded The Truckee River is a solid prospect for anglers looking to fly fish for rainbow and brown trout . “ The mornings are getting colder as we draw nearer to fall ,” the Reno Fly Shop reported . “ We may not see much of a change in the afternoon temps being in the mid to high 90s , but with such lower temperatures overnight and in the morning fishing has been good . The Truckee River has been somewhat dirty in the last few weeks due to strong thunderstorms . As of recent , the river has really cleared up , but stray thunderstorms possible in the next couple of weeks may introduce more turbidity to the river .” “ The trout are starting to gear up for fall as well . We ’ re finding fish in all water types ; slow , medium , and
fast water . We ’ re also noticing that the brown trout are beginning to group up more as they get closer to spawning in a few weeks . The streamer fishing has not kicked off just yet , but they are happily eating large and small nymphs equally well ,” the shop noted . “ Crayfish are a large part of the trout ’ s diet this time of year . August is usually the month that we see a lot of molting from crayfish making them a little more vulnerable until their exo-skeleton returns . ( Guide Tip : crayfish that have just molted will be a lighter color for a few hours as their skeleton harderns .) After cycling through your crayfish patterns try smaller nymphs . From doing net samples recently a lot of the food items are # 16-18 both caddis pupa and mayflies nymphs ,” the shop continued . Suggested Truckee River Flies : Fire Starter , Perdigon # 16 , Panty Dropper Hopper , Spring Creek Hopper , Mini Crayfish , Hot Cheek , G6 Caddis , Spanish Bullet , Jigged Brush Hog , Redemption PMD , TJ Hooker , Truckee River Dozen .
