By Paul J . Kneeland Pyramid Lake , Nevada , is one of the best trout fishing lakes in the world . It features huge Lahontan cutthroat trout , with many caught going over 10 pounds and a few reaching 20 pounds every year . We are very blessed to be withing striking distance of such a fishery . One of my favorite lures for catching those big trout is a 4 inch Silver Horde spoon . These spoons are usually the first ones I put on at the lake , and many days they are never taken off because they keep catching fish ! My best colors are chartreuse / orange , watermelon and firetiger for Pyramid . I troll these from 2.5 to 3.5 mph , off the Canon downriggers from 30 to 90 feet deep , depending on the time of year . The Silver Horde spoons have a unique wobbling action that doesn ’ t seem to change at different speeds , and they always catch fish .
