LAKE OROVILLE cont .
fishing expert , had the following advice for anglers looking to hook kings on the lake : “ If you ’ re at Lake Oroville trolling for kings this weekend , get your gear down to 90 to 100 feet . Troll at 2.0 to 2.3 mph with a Tornado Flasher 8 “ 360 or 8 “ triangle watermelon on a 36 inch leader tied to a kokanee cut plug with tuna or a Trinidad bait head rolling an anchovy in 200 to 350 feet of water . Watch for bass on the surface early , then run your gear right in the middle of the blow up .” On his most recent trip to the lake , Koistinen reported 2 bites at 100 feet and landed 1 king measuring 24.5 inches long . He used a 8 ” Tornado Flasher watermelon triangle with Ta rinidad bait head with anchovy . He trolled with a 40 ft . set back at 2.0 mph while fishing from 7 to 11 a . m . “ The surface water temperature was 78 degrees , but at 100 ft deep it was 50 degrees ,” he observed . The Spillway , Bidwell Canyon and Loafer Creek ramps remained open to boat launching at press time . The Foreman Creek is the only car top ramp now open . PARDEE / CAMANCHE LAKES
Trout Plants Begin at Pardee !
IONE – The weather has cooled the water temperature , at Pardee Lake , allowing the Rocky Mountain Recreation Company to plant the first trout plant of the fall , 2000 pounds , on September 23 . Trout plants will also start at Lake Camanche during October after the surface water temperature cools down to 70 degrees . Fishing pressure on both lakes has been very sparse since Labor Day . However , Robbie Dunham and his wife , Kim , caught trout limits on their latest trolling adventure at Lake Camanche . “ We launched the boat at 6:30 a . m . By the time it took to get four rods in the water , we already had put three rainbows trout in the fish box . After that , it was a scratch bite and it took until 1:00 p . m . to finish two limits . The fishing isn ’ t red hot , but there are still holdovers in the main river channel .” “ We started in the main river channel off of the North Shore Marina and after the initial surge , we traveled to the dam area near the islands , but we didn ’ t find any fish . We moved back to mid-lake to finish off our limits .,” he reported . Dunham said the water temperature has cooled a few degrees and the trout are still

One trick that Dunham uses to improve his catches is to freshen up my Speedy Shiners every thirty to forty-five minutes and recoat them with Smelly Jelly ’ s Kokanee Feast Lake Camanche is holding 202,150 acre feet of water , 48 percent of capacity and 78 percent of average . Few anglers have reported fishing for kokanee , trout , bass or catfish at Lake Pardee lately , but the ftout fishing is expected to pick up , now that the water temperature has cooled down and trout plants are do ; ign into the reservoir again . The kokanee season is over at the lake as the fish move up the Mokelumne River to spawn . “ Today was bittersweet - kokanee season has come to an end ,” reported Pete Thomas on his last kokanee trip of the year on September 17 . “ We finished off the year with a bang . I had Don Ritchie and his buddy Rudy out for a fast paced morning . Doubles and triples made for quick work on limits .” “ Fish have made a turn for the worst . Most have turned and are
