This angler caught this nice white sea bass while using live anchovies near the Channel Islands . Anglers caught a variety of fish on this trip including sheephead , calico bass , and bonito .

Potluck Fishing for Rockfish , Lingcod and Halibut Is Great

BERKELEY – Anglers fishing live bait in San Francisco Bay and off the Marin County Coast are experiencing top-notch fishing for rockfish , lingcod and halibut . The California Dawn I and 2 at the Berkeley Marina checked in with a mixed bag potluck array of rockfish , lingcod and halibut on Friday , September 23 , a day with “ some absolutely beautiful weather ,” said Captain James Smith . The California Dawn 1 returned with 120 rockfish , 12 halibut and 5 lingcod for 16 anglers , while the California Dawn 2 had 104 rockfish , 12 halibut to 17 pounds and 14 ling cod for 18 anglers . The rockfish and lingcod bite at the Farallon Islands has been stellar . On September 24 , both boats went to the

Farallon Islands , returning to the harbor with limits of both rockfish and lingcod after enjoying another day of calm weather . The final count was 50 lingcod ( 25 limits ) and 250 rockfish ( 25 limits ) for the California Dawn 1 and 34 lingcod ( 17 limits ) and 170 rockfish ( 17 limits ) for the California Dawn 1 . Big , chunky king salmon continue to be caught outside of the Golden Gate . “ We finished up with 14 salmon to 28 lbs . fishing on a flat calm ocean ,” reported Mike Rescino , Captain of the Lovely Martha on Saturday , September 24 . The 6 anglers landed 4 salmon to 24 lbs . aboard the Lovely Martha the previous day . The anglers trolled anchovies off the Marin County Coast on both trips .
