Deanna Kelsey , deckhand on the Fiesta out of Virgis Landing in Morro Bay , saw bluefin jumping and set the troll gear in about 240 feet of water and was quickly rewarded when this fish crushed her cedar plug .

Limits of Halibut and Stripers Reward Bay Anglers !

SAN FRANCISCO – While the halibut fishing has been great on San Francisco Bay this year since early spring , it is only during the past couple of weeks that anglers have found top-notch striper fishing on the bay while drifting live bait . “ On our latest trip , Flash 1 was in early with limits of both bass and halibut ,” said Captain Steve Talmadge . It was a light charter of two anglers .” “ We had a great day fishing today ,” Talmadge reported after a previous trop . “ The fish are on the bite . Flash 2 had a full load of 6 fishermen . They had a limit of bass , a couple halibut and a mess of rockfish . Not bad for 1 / 2 day trip . I ran Flash 1 with a light load of 3 fishermen on a 1 / 2 day trip and we were 3 short of limits of halibut .”

On October 29 , the 12 anglers aboard the Lovely Martha caught 12 limits ( 120 ) of assorted rockfish on their 1 / 2 day trip fishing along the beautiful Marin County coast . “ We will be switching gears starting next weekend to our crab combo abd crab only trips ,” said Captain Mike Rescino . The California Dawn has been fishing for rockfish and lingcod at the Farallon Islands and on San Francisco Bay as Captain James Smith gets ready for crab / rockfish combos starting on November 5 . “ We ran a bay trip today and found lots of biting fish ,” said Smith on October 27 .“ Our final count was 13 limits of striped bass ( 26 ) and 17 halibut .” On October 28 , the boat finished up their trip to the Farallon Islands with limits of rockfish and limits of lingcod for the 18 anglers on board , said Smith .
