Four Boat Ramps Open Now As Lake Rises

OROVILLE – Four launch ramps for trailerable boats are now open on Lake Oroville , due to the rising water level from recent

storms . The Bidwell Canyon Stage 1 ramp , the Spillway Stage 2 ramp , the new Loafer Creek Stage 2 ramp and the Lime Saddle ramp are now open . The Enterprise ramp remains closed . The only car top ramp open now is at Foreman Creek . Lake Oroville is holding 2,233,310 acre feet of water , 63 percent of capacity and 110 percent of average . The water level has risen to 803.66 feet above sea level . Most fishing activity lately has focused on black bass . Few if any anglers have been pursuing king salmon in the cold water conditions . On the Lake Oroville Fishing Reports Facebook Page , Kurt Giese , reported on his latest bass fishing adventure at Oroville . “ I was out on Saturday ,” he wrote . “ There were two club tournaments going on , so the lake saw a lot of pressure last week . It was a grind for everybody I talked to . We ended the day with 4 fish ,

all caught in 20 feet of water on soft plastics . The thermal incline is at 50 feet , so most of the fish are really deep .” Ilya Guryanov also reported after a recent bass fishing trip : “ I had a chance to sneak out between the storms this week . In the morning , I stumbled upon a deep crankbait bite and managed to catch a handful . I graphed a lot of fish in the 15-20 foot range . Later , in the morning the fish shifted deeper and the reaction bite died .” “ It was time to bust out the spinning rods . I ’ m a huge believer that your most sensitive / high end rods should be your finesse rods . You should be able to feel a fish fart nearby with your rod .
