DEL VALLE RESERVOIR

Marina Store and Boat Rentals Reopen

LIVERMORE – Del Valle Regional Park remains open with limited amenities . Fishing reports aren ’ t available at this time , but the good news is the Marina Store is open daily with modified hours for boat rentals , first come first served . Rentals for motorboats , patio boats and canoes can be purchased between 8 am and 3 pm ; boats must be returned by 5 pm . The store is open between 8 am – 6 pm to purchase bait , tackle , license sales , and snacks and drinks . The Camp Store is open Fridays from 1pm to 9pm and Saturdays from 8 am to 9 pm . Use caution on storm-damaged trails . Signs are posted . Construction equipment / noise may be present during normal working hours . Best July Fishing At Eagle Lake In Years

Eagle Lake - The trolling bite is very good right now at Eagle Lake . The Eagle Lake Trout are gorging themselves on minnows off both the east and west shorelines . Find the feeding birds , ( pelicans and grebes ) and you ’ ll find the minnows and the feeding trout . Troll the east side off Eagles Nest and up and down the shoreline from Ronald McDonald ’ s to Miners Bay . Stay in water 20-30 feet deep and run your baits under the minnow schools on down riggers or lead core from 10-20 feet deep . On the west side there are minnow schools off Shrimp Island . Run your trolled baits at 5-15 feet deep in water 10-30 feet deep . Best lures are Needlefish and Thomas Buoyant spoons in white / silver , red / gold , and orange / gold . We are launching at 5 AM , fishing by 5:15 AM , and limited by 7:30 most days . The fish we are putting in the box range from 2 3 / 4 to almost 4 lbs . A seven pound plus two fish limit is not uncommon right now . FYI : I have heard from two separate sources that the famous Eagle Lake Bobber Bite is on again right now . I have not confirmed this personally , but the sources are reliable . I will follow up on this and report further info . This is a great time to be at Eagle Lake . Cool weather , a good trout bite that gets you back to your cabin or camp site by mid morning , and a peaceful , relaxing environment are on tap for those who want to take advantage of it . Note : I did not expect this good Eagle Lake Trout bite to occur in July . It hasn ’ t occurred for a number of years . It should last awhile as there is an endless supply of minnows . Get up here . Anglers Target Late Season Stripers and Shad
