Boaters Battle Spotted Bass

OROVILLE – While the king salmon bite has been nonexistent at Lake Oroville lately , bass anglers are finding solid fishing for spotted bass in the early morning and evening hours . “ I hit Big O last night for a quickie , and the bite was pretty darned good ,” said Tom Hoy on the Lake Oroville Fishing Repots Facebook Page ; after his latest . bass fishing trip . “ I caught and released a slew of ‘ em . There are still bunches of fishes cruising the 10-15 range suspended , with more bottom fish than last week ” “ The fish are more active and higher than after the cooldown ,” he advised .. “ I hooked the fish on the bass union finesse football , vision 110 in spawn cherry , 3.3 ” keitech in bass candy ( underspin ), a shakey head , a staysee 80 , and one on an s-waver 120 in I know it . I bumped to a 3.3 ” keitech last week to try and fix the whole ‘ dinks shredded the tail ’ frustration .” “ My hits have gotten better , and general fish size bigger with the 3.3 , at least right now . It even catches catfish ,” he added . The Bidwell Canyon , Spillway , Loafer Creek , Lime Saddle and Enterprise boat ramps are all open to launching , according to the Lake Oroville State Recreation Area . The Foreman Creek , Nelson Bar , Stringtown and Vinton Gulch car top ramps are also open to boat launching . Lake Oroville is holding 3,201,943 acre feet of water , 91 percent of capacity and 137 percent of average
