1 . groundfish is available on Rittenburg Bank . Anglers are landing huge limits of lingcod and rockfish while fishing the bank , located 31 miles off the Marin County Coast . Swimbaits and jigs are the preferred baits
EAGLE LAKE … The Eagle Lake trout
2 . bite is still hot . Anglers are still catching big rainbows with the fish averaging over three pounds and many pushing the four-pound mark .
CALIFORNIA DELTA … Trollers and
3 . pluggers are finding good numbers of striped bass . Most fish are averaging 4 to 7 lbs ., but some in the 20 lb . class are being caught .
SHASTA LAKE … Big brown trout and easy
4 . limits of rainbows are on tap for those trolling 60 ’ -90’ deep . Shad pattern lures are working best , but the trout don ’ t seem to be selective right now .
GOOD BETS …
MONTEREY BAY … Anglers fishing the
5 . deep water are catching easy limits of rockfish and fair numbers of lingcod . Halibut are being caught by anglers fishing the beaches along the coast while drifting live bait .
DAVIS LAKE … Trollers are catching
6 . rainbows and German browns averaging 18 to 20 inches long while fishing 20 to 25 feet deep .
HALF MOON BAY … Anglers are now
7 . required to fish deep water ( over 300 feet ) since the new regulations went into effect . Limits of rockfish are the norm with some big lings in the mix .
LAKE CAMANCHE … Anglers trolling deep
8 . are reporting top-notch trout fishing and early limits . Trollers are using Speedy Shiners , spinners and other lures .
SLEEPERS …
LAKE ALPINE … Bank anglers and fly
9 . fishermen are catching 2 to 4-pound rainbow trout on Lake Alpine . Bank anglers should toss out PowerBait and Power Eggs . Woolly buggers and Sparrow Nymphs are working for fly fishermen .
. LOS VAQUEROS … Channel catfish are
10 chewing on anchovies , nightcrawlers and chicken livers in the South Cove . Striped bass in the 18 to 21-inch class are also being caught on the fishing pier and in South Cove .
AMERICAN RIVER … Anglers are
11 . catching stripers in the 18-24 inch range from Paradise Beach to Howe Ave . Topwater lures , flies , live bait and cut baits are all working .
FOLSOM LAKE … Bass , rainbows
12 . and king salmon are starting to become more active with the cooler temperatures . Fishing is good but expected to improve as the temperatures cool down .
