moves into the area . The East Bay Regional Parks District planted Shadow Cliffs , Quarry , Chabot and Temescal but action was mixed , due to changing conditions . Shadow Cliffs received 1000 pounds on Tuesday the 30th , and anglers who camped out on the pipe tended to do the best . This area is off limits to fishing for at least two hours after the plant , but there are those who choose to ignore the regs . Shoreline action was fair from both docks and in the area between the ramp and the marina . There is about 20 feet of weed extending from the bank , probably due to runoff and the couple of sunny days from last week . Quarry Lakes received 1000 pounds , but reports were light . Jamie Aitken and his son Alex were back at it though and brought home a couple before the rain . Contra Loma received 750 pounds of Lassens on January 18 and a DFW plant during the same week . Aaron Ferguson took a 4-pound largemouth . Trout action was mixed and reports remain light . I can imagine there are weeds along the shoreline due to last weeks good weather . Lake Del Valle received 1,000 pounds of Lassens on the 24th . The trout bite has been mixed though a 10-pounder was reportedly taken out by the dam . There has been a decent largemouth bite on chartreuse Ned-rigs and drop-shots with fish between 2-4-pounds . Lake Chabot action was very good early in the week , with some decent limits all around . The lake is high , and access is limited to most of the docks and some areas in the marina cove , west shore and out to Racoon point . The water will be off color but relatively weed free .

Lake Temescal received 750-pounds of Lassens on the 31st . Action has been mixed and varies between very good and very slow depending on conditions . The lake settled during the past couple days of good weather and was pretty good immediately following the plant , but once the rain moved in things shut down . Action should be good once the lake settles . Celebrate the East Bay Regional Parks this year as we recognize their 90th anniversary ! The park district has grown to 73 individual parks with over 126,000 acres , 55 miles of shoreline and 1,300 miles of trails . Consider joining the Regional Parks Foundation and support the East Bay Parks and Programs .

Kings , Holdover Rainbows Are Biting

FOLSOM - The fishing for king salmon is shifting into high gear for experienced anglers at Folsom Lake , Sacramento ’ s back yard fishing hole on the American River . “ I smacked them out of the kayak today ,” reported Cal Kellogg of fishhuntshoot . com on Tuesday , Jan . 30 . “ I hooked and released a dozen kings from 12 to 17 inches long while trolling in water as shallow as 17 feet . My deepest fish was caught at only 34 feet deep . I concentrated on the end of the Peninsula .” “ I trolled a White Shad Tube behind a chrome / blue 6 inch Fish Eye Dodger with 1.8 mph tipped with anchovy skin . I didn ’ t hook any trout while fishing with pink Trout Trix Worm and Trigger Spoons nor on my salmon gear ,” he advised . “ I think we ’ ll have a good year for salmon at Folsom and the fish should be 16 to 22 inches by June ,” Kellogg forecasted . “ These fish were 8 to 10 inches last July and August .
