LOS VAQUEROS RESERVOIR

Vaqueros Reservoir but expect the bite to get even better since another plant of 1000 pounds of fish will happen this week . Anglers are finding the best bite while fishing in the South Cove while using chicken liver and anchovies . Shore anglers continue to hook some striped bass while tossing out anchovies in the South Cove and off the fishing pier near the marina . Most of the fish are in the 18-21 inch range but the biggest fish reported being caught was in the 13 pound range that was caught on an anchovy near the pier . The trout bite has slowed down but some anglers are still catching them while using PowerBait and tossing lures .

Trollers And Lure Tossers Enjoy Summer Striper Bite

Yuba City – The striped bass bite on the Feather River has been phenomenal for anglers that are trolling and casting lures at night . Raith Heryford , RH Guide Service , has been taking clients out at night and has had an amazing summer catching both schoolie sized fish with some big healthy stripers mixed in . Limits are the norm and at times the bite has been wide-open . Pretty amazing since most anglers consider striper fishing in the river a spring-time fishery because this is when they move into the river system to spawn . Also , many anglers believe that the water temperatures are to warm for stripers and they move into the delta and SF Bay . Raith has been trolling Bomber Long A ’ s at about 4mph . The Bomber Long A is a is a 4 ½ inch bait that dives to 3-6ft . He also adds Pro-Cure to his lures with Bloody Tuna being one of his favorites . Night fishing on the river can be dangerous so taking time to learn the river during the daylight is really important . Be careful .

SHASTA LAKE

SHASTA – Shasta Lake has 82 degree water temperature in the morning , and is only 44 feet down from the crest . The trout bite at Shasta is in full swing with some really big fish that are putting on the pounds . We are catching some really nice fish and multiple limits . The fish are feeding from 65 ’ to 100 ’ deep on 1 ” to 5 ” long threadfin shad . The main body is fishing really well from the dam past the Pit River Bridge . The bite has been really good in the early morning and slowing down a bit after that . We are still getting nice big fish during the
