Fantastic Halibut and Striper Fishing on San Francisco Bay

BERKELEY – Drifting live anchovies on the San Francisco Bay is the most popular technique for anglers that are in search for stripers and halibut on the San Francisco Bay . Other anglers enjoy tossing swimbaits , soft plastics , and using spoons for both species . Anglers are having phenomenal success with any of the bait options with most days catching both halibut and stripers . When fishing the bay it is really important

to understand the tides . In fact , most charter boat captains and avid anglers on the bay will plan their fishing day based on the tide . Tides will dictate what species they target at what time of day . “ Today we ran a ½ day trip and it was another great day on the bay ! We finished up with 40 striped bass and 5 halibut for 23 anglers !” reported Capt . Mike Rescino of Lovely Martha Sportfishing On the previous day , Capt . Andrew of Lovely Martha Sportfishing reported , 32 striped bass and 15 halibut to 35lbs for 18 anglers .
