The albacore bite is on and anglers are taking advantage of what may be the best bite in the region in years . Anglers are bagging fish up to 20 plus pounds .

Albacore Hitting the Deck While Rockfish and Lingcod Bite Remains Red Hot

BODEGA BAY – Anglers fishing out of Bodega Bay have a lot to choose from right now . Albacore are within reachable distance while the rockfish and lingcod bite remains really good . Rick Powers , Captain of the New Sea Angler , reported boating 15 alcabacore tuna up to 24lbs for 3 anglers . Rick will be running a limited number of albacore trips so give him a call to get on the books . Powers also said , “ the rockfish bite is red hot and we are also catching some lingcod on every

HALF MOON BAY

Big Schools Of Anchovies Leads To Phenomenal Fishing

EL GRANADA – it is a great time to fish out of Half Moon Bay since albacore , halibut , rockfish , lingcod , cabezon , and even some striped bass are being caught . “ The last two weeks fishing has exploed because anchovies have showed up in the area ,” reported Sherry Ingles , owner of the Half Moon Bay Sportfishing . Ingles also said , “ Alabacore are being caught about 30 miles out .”

Private boaters are lining up to get in on the albacore action and some of the charter boats are starting to book trips to chase these hard fighting and tasty fish . “ If you want to catch halibut try fishing near surfer beach while using herring or anchovies ,” Ingles said . Anglers are reporting rockfish and lingcod limits with cabezon in the mix as well .

In recent weeks the striped bass bite for shore anglers has been phenomenal but that bite has tapered off a bit . Anglers are still catching them while using Hair Raisers , Mickey Jigs , ST Minnows and Lucky Craft lures .
