Trollers Bag Kokanee Limits

DOBBINS – If you want to catch a 10 fish limit of kokanee salmon , it ’ s hard to beat fishing at Bullards Bar Reservoir now that the new year has begun . Trollers have been catching the kokanee while trolling with hoochies , spinners and Kokanee Cut Plugs at 10 to 30 feet deep , according to Cal Kellogg of Fish Cal Kellogg . Solid fish to 12 inches are being hooked . “ We seeing lots fish measuring 11.5 to 12 inches long , which is not bad for Bullards Bar this time of year ,” said Rob Reimers of Rustic Rob ’ s Guide Service . “ If you book a trip with me at Bullards for kokanee or Oroville for kings from now through March , I will smoke and package your fish for no additional charge .” Bullards Bar is holding 704,372 acre-feet of water , 73 percent of capacity and 118 percent of average . Few anglers have been on the water at Englebright Reservoir fishing for trout . However , this is generally a great time of year to hook rainbows and an occasional brown while trolling with Rapalas , Needlefish , Cripplures and nightcrawlers behind dodgers . Expect to hook

holdover rainbows in the 12 to 18 inch range . Englebright is holding 70,354 acre feet of water , 101 percent of capacity and 108 percent of average .

Bank Fishermen Target Rainbows

BURSON – If you want to catch trout at Lake Camanche , you ’ re going to have to do it from shore now , since the Camanche Reservoir Boat Launch has been closed temporarily . “ The closure is necessary to help prevent the spread of a harmful species of mussel to Camanche Reservoir and other water bodies ,” the East Bay Municipal Utility District announced . “ The invasive Golden Mussel ( Limnoperna fortunei ) has now been identified in North America for the first time and has been discovered in the Sacramento - San Joaquin Delta . This harmful , non-native species poses a significant threat to natural ecosystems , water infrastructure , and water quality .” “ Golden Mussels are similar to quagga and zebra mussels ; they are invasive and proliferate quickly - but the Golden Mussel can thrive in a greater variety of conditions including waters with lower calcium levels , making them an even more significant concern . We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this important precautionary measure ,” the agency wrote . There is currently no
