another 1,000 lbs . of rainbows at the South Shore Ramp . Over 22,000 pounds of trout have been planted at Camanche to date . Nik of F & B Baits was out at Lake Camanche recently when he caught a limit of quality rainbows at the pond .

CLEAR LAKE

Target Largemouth Bass and Crappie With Shad Pattern Lures

LAKEPORT – Black bass fishing at Clear Lake is “ pretty good ” for anglers using their live scopes to locate fish , according to Dave Burruss at Clear Lake Outdoors . The fish are feeding on schools of threadfin shad , so shad pattern lures are working best . “ On my latest trip to the lake I caught and released 12 largemouths to 7 pounds ,” said Burruss . “ The fish averaged 5 pounds each . I was fishing small Keitech swimbaits at 20 feet deep mid lake and south . The surface water temperature was 47 degrees .” “ Crappie fishing is good also ,’ he stated . “ My fishing buddy and I hooked and released 80 crappie on my most recent crappie trip . The fish were suspended in 25 to 30 feet of water . The fish hit 2 to 3 Keitech swimbaits . The crappie ranged from 1 to 3 pounds .” Channel catfish are still hitting live minnows and spoons throughout the lake . Like the bass and crappie , the catfish are feeding on shad .

Bank and Boat Anglers Battle Rainbows

OREGON HOUSE – Collins Lake is only 10 feet from full and the water is stained from recent storms , so your best bet for trout it to bait fish in the shallows . The surface water temperature is 53.6 degrees . “ Trolling is not so hot , but bait fishing is pretty good ,” reported Cal Kellogg of Fish Cal Kellogg . “ Whether fishing from shore or boat , your top prospect is to fish garlic scented PowerBait off the bottom in water shallower than10 feet . Don ’ t be afraid to cast your bait into 2 feet of water .” “ My friend Joey and his daughter landed six trout yesterday while bait fishing in shallow water ,” he tipped . “ The mouth of the Narrows and the backs of coves are the top spots to fish now .” Ed Palma also reported on the winter fishing conditions at Collins .: “ Trout fishing had moderated considerably after that last big storm and it seem to just be starting to pick up now ,” he stated . Valley loaded up the brag board including a 6-1 / 4 lb . rainbow trout , a 5 pounder and four others down at the south end of the park using a Kastmaster . Tom , Frank and Bob brought in a haul of 12 trout including a 6.4 pound rainbow trout . Great Catch Guys ! Landon Kelly of Yuba City was casting Hammerdown lures on the beach when he caught a beautiful 5.5 lb . lightning trout . Natalie Corn of Sacramento caught a late-season redear sunfish on the beach with night crawlers . Panfish had been hanging out near the rental dock and in the rocks at the dam but since then they seem to have scattered , or may be settled a little deeper . Jordan Cortez of Marysville caught a pair of lightning trout , one 6.25 lbs . and the other just over 5 lbs ., in addition to a rainbow trout while fishing from the shore near the dam using a white swimbait . Mckenzie Giles reeled in her first fish using signature Pink PowerBait by the dam . She definitely wins the prize for most stylish angler , not to mention biggest fish relative to the size of the angler ! Ray Fritz or Marysville and Sean Sadek of Yuba City had a great day on the lake , catching three trout including a lightning trout trolling spoons and Kastmasters only 5 ft down . They worked the dam and Elmers Cove . The lightning tipped the scale at 6.5 lbs . and the rainbow over 5.5 lbs . The campground has been mostly empty during the week and it ’ s been a beautiful time to be up here . If you get a chance , stop by this week , grab a coffee ( or Ice Cream ) and go enjoy the beautiful winter quiet !”
