CONTINUED FROM PG 11
COLLINS LAKE
What a great day! Savannah & Kaleigh reeled in a mix of rainbow trout a 3-3 / 4 pound lightning and a huge 1-3 / 4 lb. Redear Sunfish shore fishing. Great catching girls! Seamus & June caught a stringer full of big rainbows using Yellow PowerBait down by the dam. Kolten loaded up the Collins Lake bragboard with a limit of trout caught using chartreuse PowerBait along the shoreline. Llani Corona of Yuba City caught a beautiful trophy trout on green glitter PowerBait out in front of the Lakeview Group area. Cindy Morrison brought home a limit of trout including a lightning trout trolling lures over near the east side of the lake. Beth Leclair from Lower Lake, California caught her 4.75lb rainbow trout using PowerBait. The Laucirica family of Oakley, along with their possibly shy dog, brought in 12 rainbow trout casting lures in Elmer’ s Cove! Cal Kellogg, fishcalkellogg. com, reported top-notch fishing on his most recent trip to Collins Lake.“ We had limits of rainbows, ranging from 1-1 / 2 4 pounds, for two anglers while trolling Trout Trix Minnows and threaded worms with pink Sling Blades off Dispey Divers at 10 feet deep with 24 feet of line,” said Kellogg.“ The fish are still showing in the top 10 feet of water.” Finally we were excited to receive a supplemental warm water species plant that included 3000 juvenile Black Crappie! These 2-3 ″ planters will double in size every month or so until they’ re full grown( at least the ones that don’ t enter the other part of the food chain). It’ s the perfect time to plant with so much submerged habitat that can provide good shelter for these fish to get their start! Grab a kayak, or some flipflops, whatever it takes, but make sure you get out and enjoy some sunshine and the outdoors!

DAVIS LAKE
Honker Cove Boat Ramp Now Open
PORTOLA – The trout fishing is picking up for bank fishermen and boaters at Lake Davis.“ Bank anglers are using worms and PowerBait at Mallard in varying depths close to shore,” reported Jim Graham at J & J’ s Grizzly Store and Camping Resort.“ Most of the fish are rainbows measuring from 18 to 22 inches long.” Trollers are also hooking trout while using red dog Frog Dick Nites and copper / red head Baby Simons at 10 to 14 feet deep. Boats are now launching at Honker cove boat ramp, but the boat dock is not in the water yet.“ I talked to some of fishermen that had been out in boats, but they didn’ t report much luck,” reported Ed Dillard of Dillards Guided Fishing on a scouting mission on the lake.“ The surface water temperature was 53 degrees,” You can expect black bass, bluegill and brown bullhead catfish action to shift into high gear as the water temperature warms up. Davis is holding 81,542 acre feet of water, 98 percent of capacity and 134 percent of average.

DON PEDRO LAKE
Trolling Yields Kings, Rainbows and Browns
LA GRANGE- Recent trolling adventures on Lake Don Pedro have produced a mixture of quality rainbow trout and king salmon – and even an occasional brown.“ It was a great day yesterday at Don Pedro for two young men aged 8 and 11,” said Monte Smith of Gold Country Sportfishing. after his latest fishing adventure on April 15.“ Mom and grandpa watched on. The first fish was lost, but the very next fish more than made up for it. It turned out to be a beautiful German brown that weighed between 4 1 / 2 to 5 pounds, that was released unharmed..”“ They finished the day with a nice mixed bag of king, salmon and rainbow trout. They had a great time and are definitely coming back,” he reported.“ The king salmon averaged 15 to 16 inches and the rainbows went up to 2-1 / 2 pounds. On previous trips we landed some kings in the 3 to 5 pound range.”
Smith trolled with a variety of offerings, including frozen shad, homemade spoons and dodgers paired with Pro-Troll Kokanee Killers, tipped with white corn. The fish hit anywhere from 30 to 65 feet deep. Smith noted that“ the fishing is getting better by the day. The lake level is rising and the water temperature is warming. The surface temperature ranged from 61 to 63 degrees on my last trip.” On his previous trip on Don Pedro, Smith reported,“ We had a pretty good day yesterday at Don Pedro with clients. I was expecting more, but nine is what we ended up with; they had eight other missed opportunities. Look for a new fishing report on Catch America this next week. Don’ t forget to like and subscribe to it,” he concluded. Don Pedro Lake is holding 1,762,338 acre feet of water, 87 percent of capacity and 114 percent of average. The lake level is 808.25 feet in elevation,
