The average rainbow is about 15 inches, but fish to 6 pounds are being caught. Despite this, fishing pressure has been light. Fly guys are using a variety of medium to large size nymphs and mixing in some egg imitations. Gear anglers are using a combination of cured roe, beads and small crankbaits. Bead anglers are hooking the largest fish while side drifting. Anglers back trolling crankbaits are getting the biggest number of hookups per outing because they are able to cover a maximum amount of water. RIO VISTA - Striped bass action is superb on the San Joaquin from Pirates’ Lair to Antioch. Netzel of Tight Lines Guide Service reported two fish limits of stripers while trolling deep-diving Yo- Zuri lures on his recent trips, along with releasing both undersized and legal-sized fish. “Thirty-two was the total count on Monday, with 11 keepers to 7 pounds for 3 clients,” said James Netzel of Tight Lines Guide Service. “We had to move around a lot, but when we found fish spawning, it was quick doubles and short strikes.” The fishing was slower the next day, but the 3 anglers fishing with Netzel still ended up catching their limits, with the largest fish (released) going 10 pounds. The best lure colors have been chartreuse, chartreuse/orange, candy and silver and blue. Alan Fong of the Fishermen’s Warehouse in Sacramento reported challenging largemouth bass on his latest trip fishing in the North Delta slough “The water was clean and warm at 59 degrees,” said Fong. “I thought that we would load the boat, but it was a tough bite with a few quality largemouths out of the seven landed on spinnerbaits and chatterbaits. The Senko bite was non- existent.” - Dan Bacher Minn Kota Precision On-Board State Of The Art Battery Charters onger run times. Shorter charge times.
