Since the first trip of the year is typically part fishing trip and part shakedown cruise, Wes Ward and I opted to stay close to home and hit Folsom Lake. I met Wes at Granite Bay’s big paved ramp at daybreak and we slid our Hobie Kayaks into the water, rigged up our cameras and shoved off. I’d been getting some reports of good rainbow trout action in the North Fork, so we peddled out to the edge of the river channel, put our gear into the water and turned left.
