The CDFW stocked Chabot with 1000 pounds of rainbow trout the week of April 1-5, while the park district planted 750 pounds the week of April 8-12. 3810 OREGON HOUSE – Trollers are doing the best on rainbow trout at Collins Lake at this time, but bank fishermen are also picking up plenty of fish. “Anglers are catching lots of trout on Collins Lake,” said Lakota Martin at Collins Lake Resort, “but black bass and crappie are also hitting with the warmer weather. We’ve weighed in 14 trout over 5 pounds over the past couple of weeks.” Big fish honors go to Joe and Sue O’Brien, who teamed up to bag a 7.5 lb. rainbow while trolling a firetiger lure at 15 feet deep. Ben and Asaro also caught a 7.5 lb. rainbow while trolling an Arctic Fox fly. Cassie White of Oroville demonstrated her bank fishing prowess by landing a 6.5 lb. rainbow trout while soaking Power Bait. Don Nelson of Elk Grove landed a 5-3/4 lb. trout while fishing a swimbait at 12 feet near the power lines. “Boaters are hooking a lot of crappie and bass in the channel while tossing out Kastmasters,” she added. The lake is full and spilling 1 inch over the spillway.
