Better Stock Up On Ahi Assault Diamond Jigs!
et’s face it, bottom fishing bar
jigs aren’t that sophisticated,
but what sets a quality jig apart from a so
so jig is the quality of finish, available color
schemes and the quality of the hardware.
A while back I discovered a line of Jigs from
the folks at American Maple/Ahi USA, dubbed
the Assault Diamond Jig and they have quickly
become some of the favorite jigs in my bottom
fishing arsenal.
The jigs are available in weights ranging from
4 to 14 ounces, so you’ll be able to find the
perfect size jig for any situation you encounter
off the California coast. In terms of colors they
offer all of my favorites such as straight silver,

Some jigs look great out of the package,
but when you start banging them off rocks
the finish quickly flakes off. I haven’t found
that to be the case with Assault Jigs. So far
the finish on my jigs has held up well and
I’ve caught plenty of fish on them including
both rockfish and lingcod.
In terms of hardware the hooks are sharp
and strong, the rings where the hooks attach
are welded and a beefy crane swivel is
included so you don’t have to worry about
line twist.

Svendsen’s Boat Works Located At
Point Richmond Has Been Helping
Boaters Since 1963!
S
vendsen’s Boat Works, serving the
boating community from Alameda, Ca
since 1963, is proud to announce its relocation.
On January 1st 2018, Svend-
sen’s renowned team of
experienced boat-
wrights, riggers
and metal fabrica-
tors joined forces
with Bay Marine
Boatworks
in Richmond
to become the
premier boat repair
facility in Northern
California.
In January 2017, Bay Maritime, which owns
Bay Marine Boatworks and Bay Ship & Yacht
in Alameda, acquired all of the divisions of
Svendsen’s, including Svendsen’s Marine
Distributing, Svendsen’s Rigging Shop and
Svendsen’s Metal Works.
The combined facility in Richmond will
include an expansion of Bay Marine’s existing
boatyard with use of recently acquired land,
as well as state-of-the-art environmental
improvements.
The site will also include a new marine store
presently in the planning stage. Svendsen’s/
Bay Marine customers in Richmond will have
access to the full cache of services, including
bottom and topside painting, rigging fabrica-
tion and installation, fiberglass and wood
repair, metal fabrication and repair, engine
repair and repower, custom refits and a 100
ton Travelift capacity.
President and CEO, Bill
Elliott states, “The
quality and depth of
experience we are
creating in our
Richmond yard
will be unparalleled
on the West Coast.
Our larger Travelift
capacity should also
be a bonus for Svendsen’s
customers with larger boats.”
Svendsen’s products divisions, including
the Wholesale Distribution and Chandlery,
will continue to operate in the current
location in the Alameda Marina for the
foreseeable future.
Bill Elliott says, “The re-designed Svend-
sen’s Bay Marine facility in Richmond is
well on its way to becoming a true destina-
tion yard with outstanding customer service.
We welcome and encourage all current
Svendsen’s customers to visit our new
location in 2018.”
