MOSS LANDING – The salmon
fishing in Monterey Bay heated up as
a big school of fish arrived from the
Morro Bay area.
“Our group of 8 anglers out on
July 4 landed limits of king salmon
to 20 pounds,” reported Carol Jones
of Kahuna
Sportfishing.
“The 16 anglers
fishing aboard
the Kahuna on
the following
day landed 16
king salmon
to 22 pounds
while enjoying
beautiful weather
in the bay. They
also released
5 Chinook
salmon.”
On Saturday, July 6, the 20 anglers
on the boat caught 10 salmon,
releasing 15 Chinooks, while
mooching anchovies in the bay.
The rockfish action off the Monterey
County Coast is excellent when
the weather allows the boats to get
out. The 21 anglers on the latest
bottomfish adventure aboard the
Kahuna landed 210 rockfish and 2
lingcod.
The boats out of Chris’ Fishing Trips
have been fishing for both salmon
and rockfish. The 19 anglers aboard
the Checkmate on July 6 bagged 15
lingcod and 143 rockfish, while the
23 anglers on the Checkmate the day
before landed 14 king salmon.
