Anglers going out of Chris’ Fishing Trips continue to see solid lingcod and rockfish action. For example, the 20 anglers aboard the Checkmate landed ¾ limits of rockfish and 40 lingcod on Saturday, June 10. The 17 anglers aboard the Caroline landed ¾ limits of rockfish and 30 lingcod on the Caroline the same day.
“ There were only a few anglers fishing today due to the wind reports,” reported Todd Fraser of Bayside Marine in Santa Cruz.“ There were some anglers who caught one fish in the Soquel Hole before they got blown off the water. There were a few halibut caught trolling near the Mile Buoy. The rockfishing was slow due to the wind. The wind picked up around 8:00 and never stopped. We hope it slows down in the next day or two.”
For salmon, the best area to target is near the east edge of the Soquel Hole down to Moss Landing. Trollers or picking up the kings on anchovies and lures 110-180 feet down in 170- 230 feet of water.
Big fish honors go to Klive, who landed a 26 lb. halibut while fishing a Bouncing Bobby rig in Monterey Bay, and Nate, who landed a 22 lb. halibut near the Mile Buoy. by Dan Bacher

“ Guys are out there tossing hair raisers and big jerkbaits for the stripers! It seems the early mornings have been best, but there’ s fish being caught through the day,” she tipped.
Anglers representing the social media group,“ Depth Squad” had great success, with Andrew Julian from San Jose scoring several striped bass to go along with some barred surf perch on June 1st.
Anglers in search of halibut were being sent to Crissy Field, where fair fishing was found by anglers tossing swimbaits and Rat-L-Traps, according to Scott.
Aaron Daglow of Slabzone Lures opted to stay away from the city shoreline and fish the north penninsula, where he recently found a halibut in the 15 pound class.
