The Big Bass Lakes Of Rocky Mountain Recreation Company
N
orthern and Central California
offers up a long list great bass
fishing lakes. Many of these lakes are well
know, but others don’t grab much of the
limelight. San Pablo Reservoir, Lake Del
Valle and Rancho Seco are three waters
that offer both big bass and numbers of
bass, yet remained overlooked by many in
the bass fishing community.
San Pablo Reservoir
San Pablo Reservoir is known as one of
the finest fisheries in the East Bay. The vis-
itor center offers fishing licenses for sale
and a wide array of bait and tackle.
Regular trout stocking means that the

mouths grow
big, so bring
those swim-
baits.

Lake Del Valle
Del Valle Lake is located 10 miles south of
Livermore off Interstate 580 in the San Fran-
cisco East Bay area. The lake is surrounded
by over 5,000 acres of beautiful oak-covered
hills at an altitude of 745 feet. The water lev-
el at Del Valle Lake fluctuates seasonally from
a high of 703 feet in the summer to a low of
678 feet in the winter. The lake stretches for
5 miles and has 16 miles of shoreline.
Aggressive habitat enhancement over the
past 20 years has helped to create robust pop-
ulations of both largemouth and smallmouth
bass.
