Salmon Slows, But Fish Get
Bigger
SAN FRANCISCO – Salmon fishing
outside of the Golden Gate has slowed
down, but the average size of the fish is
getting bigger, according to Erik Anfinson,
captain of the Bass Tub.
“Our latest trolling trip on August 20
produced 11 salmon to 23 pounds,” said
Anfinson. “The fish averaged 15 pounds
each. We first fished at Duxbury Reef and
then finished up at the Channel Buoys.”
Davie Hidie of San Francisco won
the jackpot with the 23 lb. salmon. Very
appropriately, it was on his birthday.
The two previous adventures were
rockcod trips to the Farallon Islands. On
August 18, a charter by 13 fishermen
yielded 13 limits of rockfish and 7 lingcod.
Then the
