Coastal Anglers Battle
Rockfish, Lingcod
MOSS LANDING – Rockfish
and lingcod fishing continues
to be superb for anglers fishing
venturing on bottomfish trips to
Point Lopez.
“Our latest trip produced limits
all-around of lingcod and rockfish,”
said Carol Jones of Kahuna
Sportfishing. “We caught loads of
nice vermilions once again and
enjoyed fantastic weather.”
The 23 anglers on the full day
trip landed 20 copper rockfish,
46 lingcod, 72 rockfish and 138
vermilion rockfish while using a
variety of shrimp flies, jigs, bars
and baits.
“Then a trip near Point Sur on
Saturday, October 28 produced ¾
limits of rockfish, 21 lingcod and
one cabezon for 25 anglers,” she
said. “It was windy and the swell
was up.”
J.J, skipper of the Chubasco
out of J & M Sport Fishing in
Monterey, reported limits of
rockfish and 15 lingcod to 11
pounds for 11anglers aboard the
Sur Randy Sunday, October 29.
The anglers fished whole squid
outside of Point Pinos.
“On the day before, the 37
anglers aboard the Chubasco
bagged 21 lingcod and limits of
rockfish,” said J.J. “The swell
was up and they fished whole
dead squid again, this time south
of Point Joe. We also ran an
afternoon trip that produced limits
of rockfish and lingcod for 13
anglers. The fish started really
biting right before dark.”

related slow fishing to the
recent arrival of large swells.
“It’s better for surfing and
not too great for fishing,” she
exclaimed.
“If you’re looking for perch
