The lake is in great shape for the tourna- ment, the lake is nearly full and big trout are being caught daily! Since the event is expecting a large turn out, anglers need to make their reservations for camp sites and boat rentals before they are sold out. C Lake Amador is best known for its superb trout fishing, offering the heaviest planting program in northern California. The lake is also home to huge largemouth bass, channel and blue catfish, crappie, bluegill and carp. The facility offers a dual lane paved boat launch that provides safe launching from full capacity all the way to 80’ down. For those without a boat, the recreation area offers 13.5 miles of shoreline to fish from as well as an extra large fishing dock that extends over 100’ off the shoreline below the clubhouse. For those who want to rent a boat, 12-foot aluminum boats are available for ½ and full day rentals at the Clubhouse. The 160-acre fresh water lake is also home to bass, bluegill, red- ear sunfish, crappie and catfish. So pack up the tackle box, load up the rod and reel and head out to SMUD’s Rancho Seco Recreational Area on March 17 and 18, 2018. You can win a prize for hooking the heaviest trout, and so can your kids. Cast your line from the shore or one of six fishing piers. Fish from your small boat [electric motor only] or rent a fishing boat at the lake — or a kayak, rowboat, or paddle- boat.
