Large Steelhead Run
Reported at Warm Springs
Hatchery
GUERNEVILLE - Fishing on the
Russian River was blown at press time,
due to high flows from spring storms.
The Warm Springs Fish Hatchery on Dry
Creek below Lake Sonoma reported good
numbers of steelhead showing at the
facility, with 2485 steelhead trapped to
date.
The numbers at the Coyote Valley Fish
Facility were also good, with a total of 1165
steelhead reported to date.
“Last year the hatchery saw new fish
well into April, so things aren’t over yet,”
reported Steve Jackson at King’s Sport
and Tackle. “Bait season on the Russian
officially closed on April 1, but anglers can
continue to use lures and flies.”
“For those that fish the coastal streams,
those also closed on April 1. We see fish
continue to enter the Russian in April, so
don’t despair - you still have time. Also
coming in on the tails of the late steelhead
will be early American shad.”
