Big Performance From A Compact Net

Up until a couple weeks ago, the only EGO Slider net that I had used was the long telescoping nets favored by trout and kokanee anglers working from large boats. If you’ re fishing from a big boat and need to reach out and net a fish, those long EGO S2 Sliders are great. I just embarked on a new adventure when I got sponsored by Hobie Kayaks. Of course, getting a new fishing platform is only the first step. The next step is equipping it. To make a long story short, I needed a net similar to what a bass angler would need. I needed a net that could handle a fairly big fish, but it had to be compact for the sake of storage. I settled on what I consider to be the finest net available for bass anglers and small boaters of all kinds.

I’ m talking about the EGO S2 Compact Slider net. The handle on the net rockets from 18 to 36 inches with the press of a button. The model I chose has a 17 by 19 inch hoop and boasts rubber netting to minimize hook tangles. The net is also available with nylon netting and PVC netting. Despite having had the net for only a short time, I’ ve used it to bring several fish aboard my kayak. The net has performed as expected and it has been very tangle resistant even when dealing with trout hooked on Rapalas bristling with tiny hooks.
