Rocky Mountain Recreation Company Offers Quality Fishing
And Facilities At Several Golden State Destinations!
N
orthern and Central California
offers up a long list great bass
and trout fishing lakes. The Rocky
Mountain Recreation Company has
taken over the operation of several
Northern and Central California lakes
over the past few years and they are
doing an outstanding job of providing
quality fishing and exceptional facili-
ties for north state fishing enthusiasts.
Rocky Mountain Recreation is a
leader in the management of parks,
marinas and recreational facilities. You
should plan on visiting one, more or
all of their Norcal lakes this spring!
Let’s take a brief look at each of their
four north state destinations.

This fresh
water lake is
a habitat for
bass, bluegill,
red ear
sunfish,
crap-
pie and
catfish. Rainbow
trout are stocked in the
lake January through March.
Fishing licenses are required
and can be purchased at the
lake office. Fishing piers allow access
for those with disabilities. The annual
trout derby is held in the spring and is
always a popular event.
Rancho Seco
Rancho Seco Recreational Area
is a 400-acre park overflowing with
recreational opportunities including
camping, boating, fishing, swimming
and wildlife viewing. The 160-acre
lake is fed by the Folsom South Canal
and is a great year-round day or over-
night getaway located in California’s
Central Valley, just 25 miles from
downtown Sacramento.
You may launch an electric motor
boat, rowboat or sailboat from the two
ramps located at each end of the dam.
Ramp hours coincide with facility
hours. Kayaks, Row Boats, Stand
Up Paddleboards, Electric powered
Lake Del Valle
Del Valle Lake is located 10 miles
south of Livermore off Interstate 580
in the San Francisco East Bay area.
The lake is surrounded by over 5,000
acres of beautiful oak-covered hills at
an altitude of 745 feet.
The lake stretches for 5 miles and
has 16 miles of shoreline.
Fishing is excellent at Del Valle
Lake. Regular trout plants take place
from October through May by the Cal-
ifornia Department of Fish and Wild-
life. In addition, East Bay Regional
Park District has a supplement fishing
program, which promotes the stocking
of trout from the fall until spring and
catfish in the summer.
Other species of fish include Black
Bass, Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth
Bass, Striped Bass, Sturgeon, Salmon,
Crappie, Bluegill and variety of pan
fish, which bite throughout the year.

San Pablo Reservoir offers a six lane
boat launch facility that can accom-
modate motor boats and kayak/canoe
launching. All boats must be inspected
prior to launching. Launch open 7
days a week.
Shadow Cliffs
Shadow Cliffs is situated only a mile
from downtown Pleasanton on Stanley
Boulevard. Swimming, fishing and
non-motorized boats are allowed at
the park.
The park was formerly a gravel
quarry and was donated to the Park
District; 266-acres have been devel-
oped with an 80-acre lake, parking
and picnic grounds. An arroyo with a
chain of smaller lakes and ponds pro-
vide retreats on hot summer days.
Trout fishing is outstanding in
the main lake during the cool water
months. When things heat up so does
the catfish and bass action.
Lake Pardee
Pardee Recreation Area has been
creating positive memories for visitors
since its opening in 1958.
From fishing to hiking, Pardee Rec-
reation Area offers an abundance of
activities to keep even the most active
groups busy over a long weekend.
Over 100 campsites, each with a fire
pit and picnic table, are located within
the park, interspersed with incredible
oak trees that provide plenty of shade
