spoke about crappie and bass around
Santa Clara County.
“If I was to send a guy out for bass, I’d
definitely tell them Anderson, but Calero is
doing really well too. Numbers at Anderson
but they’re getting quality at Calero,” he
said.
“A few weeks ago I was tossing the jig at
Anderson doing pretty good then it slowed
down so I switched to the Ned rig and
started getting bit. They pumped water out
of the lake, then they pumped water back
in and now it’s taking off,” he disclosed.
“Crappie is doing really good at
Anderson right now, and they’re all fishing
up by the dam by the pump. Our crappie
derby is happening right now, and it ends
on June 1st. The biggest crappie so far was
landed at Anderson, weighting one pound,
12 ounces, and was caught on a small
Kkeitech swimbait.”
According to Tang, no minnows are
being allowed for use as bait at all Santa
Clara County Lakes.
Catfish action remained slow, according
to Tang.

catching a spring potluck catch of rainbow
trout, channel catfish and black bass over
the past couple of weeks.
Jaymie caught a five-pound trout on the
Stanley shoreline, reported Joe Sullivan of
the East Bay Regional Park District.
Steve landed a monster channel catfish
(not weighed) along the Stanley shoreline.
Jaymie also caught a hefty largemouth
bass on the Stanley shoreline.
The back ponds of the Arroyo del Valle
are also worth a shot for bass. Anglers are
catching and releasing largemouth bass
while fishing Senkos, jigs and other lures in
the brush and cove.
The current water temperature is 64
degrees, depending on depth. The water
clarity varies between 10-15 feet in visibility.
The last trout plant by the park district
featured 1000 pounds of rainbows, while
the most recent plant by the CDFW
featured 500 pounds of catchable
rainbows.
