Must Have Pro-Cure Products!
Pro-Cure offers up some
of the finest fish attracting scents available
bar none. We’ ve all got a stash of Pro- Cure Super Gel, but there is more to the Pro-Cure line up than just scents. Two products that I’ m really excited about are the new Pro-Cure Fish Nip and their Bad Azz Hand & Lure Soap.
Fish Nip
Fish Nip is basically chopped dark meat tuna with some proprietary oils and attractants added, all stored inside a vacuum sealed 7 ounce package.
Fish Nip is super versatile. You can use it to pack inside of lures with an internal scent chamber like Brad’ s Super Baits or you can use it for a bait wrap for Flatfish style salmon lures. If the scent of Fish Nip doesn’ t meet your situational needs you can add any number of different scents to it. You can even mix it with other meats such as minced shrimp or crawfish meat to trigger strikes from the most finicky salmon.
Beyond that you can wrap Fish Nip in a mesh spawn sack and use it as stand-alone bait for salmon, steelhead, catfish and more.

Bad Azz Hand & Lure Soap
Adding scent to lures and of course your hands has never been a problem with Pro-Cure. The scents go on easy and last for a very long time … Too long if you ask some of the wives and girlfriends out there!
Well Pro-Cure feels your pain and as a result they’ ve come up with Bad Azz Hand & Lure Soap. That’ s right a 4 ounce bottle of soap complete with a pump applicator that takes fish scent off your lures AND hands.
Since none of us really know what is in Pro-Cure beyond real bait, who better to design a product to remove Pro-Cure when you want it gone?

Fast trolling with big spoons is the
latest craze to sweep the Golden State’ s trout trolling scene. And why not? Big,
fast moving spoons draw strikes from big trout!
There are quite a few different spoons that you can use for fast trolling. I really like to run Silver Horde KingFisher Lite Spoons when targeting big trout.
There is a good chance that you are not familiar with the Kingfisher Lite. That because it’ s actually a spoon intended for use on silver salmon.
The KingFisher Lite, or KFL comes in 3 different sizes. The No. 3 measures 5 / 8” x 2 5 / 8”, the No. 3.5 is 7 / 8” wide and 3” long, while the No. 4 is 7 / 8” x 3 3 / 8”. I don’ t have any No. 3 spoons, but I have a bunch of 3.5s and 4s.
KFLs do an exceptional job of imitating a wounded baitfish. The folks at Silver Horde have been turning out topnotch fishing gear for over 50 years, so they know how to design an effective spoon.
The special shape built into the KFL gives it a really seductive swimming motion. If it’ s a disoriented wounded look you are going for slow your troll down. If you want to give the impression of a panicked fleeing baitfish, speed things up.
The spoons are made of brass and are very light in weight, hence the name. The light weight of the spoons, makes them very responsive, so they work well when teamed with either medium or large size dodgers.
KFLs come equipped with a good size J Hook. I remove these and replace them with either black nickel or better yet, bright red trout size trebles.
For me shape and action are the two most important cues when it comes to generating strikes, but color plays a factor too. I give the KFL two thumbs up in terms of silhouette and action. The fact that the KFL lineup includes a long list of both utilitarian and creative finishes is only icing

Large Trout Spoons for Fast Trolling
11 by Cal Kellogg on the cake.
Here are my favorite colors in descending order. Silver Horde doesn’ t name the finishes of these spoons only identifying the finishes by number: No. 731, this is a UV watermelon finish. No. 650 UV Chrome. No. 651 UV Chrome w / purple stripe and No. 652 UV Chrome w / green stripe. No. 675 UV Double Glow cop car and No. 677 UV bloody cop car.
Every once in a while, I’ ll tie on a super bright model like No. 616 wonder bread or No. 624 a Double Glow green, white, pink and orange monstrosity that nothing should hit, but everything from bass to salmon grab it anyway.
Silver Horde / Gold Star has an awesome website that details all of their fine products including KFL spoons. You can check them out at www. silverhorde. com.
