Rip Roaring Kokanee Mayhem Rages
At Bullards Bar Reservoir!
Due to some bad information from the
navigation app on my cell phone
we were late and didn’t make
it to the ramp until 6:30. I felt
horrible. It was one of the very
few times
I’ve been
late for
a fishing
trip in my
14 years
at the Fish
Sniffer.
It was
the first
time I’d
fished
with

launching facility by 6 o’clock in the
morning.

Auburn, California. They
didn’t mind the delay.
They knew the bite was
on big time!
A short while later
Brett had everyone
aboard the boat and we
were motoring away from
the floating dock. As I
shot video, Gena chatted
with Larry and Kathy and
Lucy investigated all the
strange smells on Brett’s boat.
We only ran for 10 minutes or so
before we arrived at the houseboat fleet
in Emerald Cove.

lb. Spiderwire braid. On the business end Cal
employed three way live bait leaders tied with
17 lb. Berkley Vanish Fluorocarbon.
Paul Kneeland - fished Lake

Jet 21 Coastal. They caught
landlocked king salmon to 16 inches using
Cousins 7’6” ultra light graphite downrigger rod
with a Abu Garcia Revo MGX Extreme level
wind reel loaded with 6 lb test Yozuri TopKnot
fluorocarbon line. They trolled Mack’s Lures
orange/green Cha Cha Squidders with a strip
of anchovie, behind UV chrome/orange Sling
Blades off the Canon Downriggers 40 to 60 feet
deep at 2.4 mph.
Dan Bacher - fished for
rainbow and brown trout at
Silver Lake. He used a Berkley
Ugly Stick GX2 6’ 6” medium
action spinning rod, teamed
up with a Shakespeare GX235 spinning
reel filled with 6 lb. test P-Line CX Premium
Flourocarbon Coated Line. He fished with
chartreuse Berkley PowerBait, 1/8 oz. gold
and black Panther Martins and 2/5 oz. gold/red
stripe Little Cleos.
