FRESHWATER REPORTS:
while fishing mackerel, chicken liver,
nightcrawlers and other baits in the early
morning and evening hours. The last fish
plant by the park district featured 750
pounds of channel cats.
Anglers continue to catch and release
largemouth bass in the Arroyo Ponds
while throwing Senkos, swimbaits and
other lures early and late in the day.
Remember that the regulations for the
Arroyo Ponds require both an EBRPD
daily fishing permit and CA state fishing
license The fishing is restricted to catch
and release, barbless hooks, artificial
lures, and float tubes only.
Fishing pressure has been very light at
Quarry Lakes lately, with only one catch
reported to the kiosk. Mark Suzuki of San
Jose caught a four-pound catfish while
using a spoon from his boat on the back
side of Horseshoe Lake.

Target Calero and Anderson
Largemouths with Finesse
Tactics
COYOTE - Bass, crappie or catfish are
still available for Silicon Valley anglers.
Bass anglers made use of finesse tactics
at both Calero and Anderson this week,
according to the pro anglers at Coyote
Bait and Tackle.
“Drop shot, shakey head on light-light
line will get you numbers right now. The
mornings will still get you a couple top
water blow ups. Dragging a jig on points
will work, and small Keitech swimbaits on
a 1/8 darter head will also work,” said Eric
Tan.
“Crappie are being caught at Calero by
the boat ramp. Guys are using their graph
to find them and drop down jigs to them,”
he tipped.
Catfishing was fair, according to Tan:
“There’s guys coming buying bait so we
know they are going. Most of the time
theyre going to Chesbro, but Uvas is good
too. Mackerel and anchovies have been
popular.”

rainbows, but there
have been a few
browns and salmon
around too. The
rainbows are really
fat and healthy now
that they are locked
onto the bait and
feeding heavily. We
are still suffering with
a lot of smoke up
here, but it’s getting
better,” reported
Kirk Portocarrero of
SacRiverGuide.Com.
The main body
and lower ends of
the major arms have
been the spot for
trout trolling. To hook
up all you need to do
is find the bait and
the rainbows won’t
be far away.
Some of Shasta’s
spotted bass are
stacked up on major
points and others
are suspended in
open water near bait.
