for stripers on his latest venture to Liberty
Island, so he and two other anglers, Dave
and Warren, headed out to cover in the
North Delta and targeted crappie.
“We caught around 100 crappie in the
¾- to 1-1/2 pound range while fishing
crappie jigs around structure,” said Fong.
When the weather has been calm,
Liberty Island has been producing good
numbers of quality stripers for anglers
drifting with live mudsuckers.
Barry Canevaro of the Fish Hookers
Sportfishing reported limits of stripers
to 10 pounds for 5 anglers on a recent
trip. The fish all hit threadfin shad on the
Sacramento River at Collinsville.
A sturgeon trip the following day
produced one keeper 47 inch sturgeon for
4 passengers, according to Canevaro.

salmon are being caught on the
Sacramento River in the metropolitan area
– and more are on their way. The fishing
has been up and down lately, with good
fishing one day followed by tough fishing
the next.
Big fish honors go to Taylor Ladd, who
bagged a 29 lb. buck chinook while trolling
with a Brad’s Cut Plug in a seahawk
pattern behind a chartreuse dodger below
Garcia Bend. “The fish was silver with a
blush, a very nice fish,” said Uncle Larry
Barnes at Sacramento Pro Tackle.
Trollers are experiencing the top
action while using Brad’s Cut plugs and
Silvertron spinners from Miller Park to
below Garcia Bend. Shore anglers are
picking up a few salmon while tossing out
Blue Fox and Mepps Flying C spinners at
Garcia Bend and Freeport.
On his latest trip on the Sacramento, 3
people fishing with James Netzel of Tight
Lines Guide Service caught three salmon
15, 15, and 8 pounds at Miller Park and
the Brickyard..
“We caught two of the fish on the Glo
Nose Brad’s size 14 Killer Fish and one
on the Double Take Brad’s Cut Plug
behind a Pro-Troll Inc. Chrome ProChip
11” flasher,” said Netzel.
Rob Reimers of Rustic Rob’s Guide
Service reported excellent fishing on his
latest trip on Saturday, November 11.
“The four anglers fishing with me landed
four chrome-bright salmon weighing 8,
16, 18 and 28 pounds while trolling with
the Brad’s Cut Plugs in the Jackpot color,”
said Reimers. “We also lost two fish more
while fishing in the Garcia Bend. Area.”
Jerry Lampkin of TNG Motor Sports is
also trolling for salmon in the Sacramento
metropolitan area. “I ended up with two
salmon weighing 16 and 18 pounds on my
latest trip and a 26 lb. salmon the previous
day,” he stated.
Monte Smith of Gold County
Sportfishing said the salmon fishing has
slowed down in the metropolitan area
lately, with longer lapses between groups
of fish on the river.
“On one trip I made, two anglers landed
two kings weighing 14 and 16 pounds,” he
noted. “On the next trip, the two fishermen
landed two salmon going 12 and 16
pounds. We’ve been using Brad’s Cut
Plugs behind Pro-Troll Flashers.”
