10 FRESHWATER Sept 13-27, 2019 FRESHWATER REPORTS: CONTINUED FROM PG 4 LAKE BERRYESSA cont. Guide Service on August 29. “Two of the three people aboard the boat were fishing. They landed 10 kokanee and 3 trout. They pulled the plug at noon, since they had to get going and the wind was just starting to ramp up, so it was good timing.” They landed the kokanee while trolling off the bottom from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at 80 feet. Earlier in the day, they caught the fish while suspended in 100 ft of water at 55 ft and 64 ft. They used RMT dodgers and gold and silver/gold Apex lures and purple /pink Assassin spinners, tipped with white corn, to hook the kokanee. Andre Fontenot of 50 Fishing took a solo trip to Berryessa on Sunday that produced a limit of kokanee trolling Apex lures in pink glow along with his homemade Wedding Rings with a Smile Blade at 55 to 64 feet between 1.0 and 1.6 mph. “This was probably my last koke trip of the season and a sweet ending to a very successful season,” said Fontenot. - Dan Bacher VOL.38 • ISS. 20 CLEAR LAKE nightcrawlers, spoons and spinners behind dodgers or flashers. The weather has been calm in the morning, but the wind has been coming up in the afternoon,” he noted. Guercio noted that he hooked and released an 8 lb. channel catfish while bass fishing on a deep water rockpile during a recent trip. Although he hasn’t fished for crappie, he said he is seeing good numbers of the slabsides on his graph when fishing deep water.
