REDDING/RED BLUFF
Salmon Anglers Nail Chromers!
REDDING- Salmon anglers are experiencing mixed results
while fishing the Sacramento River. Some guides say the bite is
on the upswing, others have experienced steady fishing. The one
thing that everyone can agree on is the fact that there are some
big beautiful chromers up for grabs.
“I’ve seen some improvement recently,” reported Mike Bogue
of Mike Bogue’s Guide Service. “We’ve been getting more fish
overall. The fish are chrome bright beautiful salmon. I hope the
numbers continue to build. I’ve been getting almost all of my fish
on back trolled T-55 Flatfish.”
Robert Weese of Northern California Guide Service describes
the fishing as consistent.
“We are getting some very nice fish, but we certainly are not
scoring limits. Most days we are getting around fish per rod. My
scores haven’t changed much since the opener, but hopefully
the salmon numbers will ramp up shortly. Nobody is complaining
about the quality of the fish. They average about 15 pounds and
are top quality fish. Back bouncing with both Flatfish and roe has
been producing fish for my boat,” disclosed Weese.
If you want to be in a position to score some Sac River chrome
when the fishing gets hot, it’s wise to book your spot early. Both
Robert Weese and Mike Bogue are top sticks when it comes to
putting anglers on big bad kings. To book a trip with Weese of
Northern California Guide Service, give him a ring at (530) 755-
7196. To arrange a trip with Mike Bogue of Mike Bogue’s Guide
Service reach out to Mike at (530) 246-8457.

RIO VISTA – Trolling for striped bass continues to be very

River Delta. Craig Newton at Willfish Bait and Tackle reported
top-notch fishing during his latest trolling adventure on the west
bank of the Sacramento River.
“Ron Retzclaff, Mike Steer and I caught 15 keeper striped
bass to 7 pounds, keeping six and releasing the rest,” said Craig
Newton at Willfish Bait and Tackle. “All of the fish that we kept
