P
-Line was first developed to respond to a great
challenge - To provide the best fishing line
available.
Introduced into the North American market in 1982,
P-Line immediately caught the attention of both
freshwater and saltwater anglers. Its copolymer based
technology delivered a thin diameter, soft, supple
fishing line that brought many advantages into one
line. It improved casting distances, gave a more natural
presentation to lures and baits and allowed for increased
line capacity on reels.
Today we continue to meet the high standards and
expectations of the serious angler. Whether you are a
tournament competitor or a weekend enthusiast you can
depend on P-Line to demonstrate superior strength, great casta-
bility and abrasion resistance that is unsurpassed on the water.
Combining our experiences in copolymer and fluorocarbon
technologies, P-line is on the leading edge of quality, high-per-
formance fishing lines.
We keep a pulse on what anglers are asking for, new applica-
tions, baits, and techniques fishermen are encountering as they
search for fish.
We sincerely hope you enjoy fishing with P-Line and
encourage you to help protect our precious resources.
Do what you can to keep our fisheries healthy and
our waters clean so everyone can partake in the
pleasure of a quality angling experience.
We are having a super sale at the Sacra-
mento ISE Show this year.

hen it’s time to troll fast for
trout, reach for Speedy Shiners
and draw reaction strikes from big aggres-
sive fish. They work great for landlocked
kings too!
“The “Speedy Shiner” style of lure
appears to date back to the 1960’s,” says
Peter Ridd of Thomas Lures, makers of
the Speedy Shiner. “The lure probably
originated in Maine. Back in those days a
lot of companies were turning out spinning
gear. It was customary then to offer a line
of lures to go with your gear. The Speedy
Shiner style lure was knocked off by a
lot of different companies and there have
been a lot of slightly different configura-
tions of the spoon we market today.”
These days Speedy Shiners are offered
in a couple different sizes and a wide array
of colors. Overall I’d say that color is less
important when trolling quickly in the 2.5
to 4 mph range then when moving slowly
at traditional trout speeds of 2.0 mph or
less.
If water clarity is anywhere near decent,
I go with natural colored lures. That means
chromes paired with hues of blue or purple
for spoons. If the water clarity is poor, the
natural colored stuff will often still work,
but some guys swear by super bright stuff
like florescent orange.
When the light level is low either early
or late or when the sky is overcast, black
can be an absolutely deadly color that few
anglers ever think to try.

Shiners visit them online at www.thom-
