HOT BITES ...
AMADOR TROUT … 1000 Pounds of
1 . cutbows were stocked recently with many of them over 3lbs . Monster trout have been caught recently including a 12.22lb , 13.32lb , 13.22lb , 14.7 cutbows . The lake record was also broken when a 19.96lb trout was caught .
SHASTA SPOTS … The bass bite is
2 . heating up . Finesse worms on darter heads and shaky heads are producing for bass anglers . Spotted bass are being caught with finesses worms on shaky heads . Jigs in brown and green pumpkin color have been producing fish as well .
SOUTH BAY STRUGEON … The
3 . sturgeon bite remains good and consistent for both boat and bank anglers . Shrimp baits seem to be the bait of choice .
FOLSOM BASS … Bass seem to be on
4 . the prespawn mode . The reaction bite is starting to pick up but you cannot go wrong with drop shotting or using a jig .
GOOD BETS …
PYRAMID TROUT … Beautiful and Big
5 . Lahonton Cutthroats are being caught by both shore anglers and boaters . Try purple , brown and green offerings since they have been producing some nice fish . .
SANTA CRUZ … Perch fishing off the
6 . Monterey Bay beaches has remained good . Sanddabs and halibut are being caught inside the bay . Rockfish is scheduled to open April 1st , while salmon will open April 3rd .
ENGLEBRIGHT TROUT … Both
7 . browns and rainbows are cooperating with boaters . Small Rapala minnow plugs and rigged worms are the most consistent producers .
ROGUE STEELHEAD … Plunking roe
8 . or casting spinners seems to be most effective when targeting steelhead . The lower stretch of the river has been most productive .
SLEEPERS …

TAHOE MACKS … Anglers are landing nice sized mackinaw while trolling and jigging on Lake Tahoe .
CLEAR LAKE BASS … Crappie fishing
10 . is hot on Clear Lake . A new state record black crappie was caught on Feb . 17th . The fish weighed 4.5lbs .
NEW MELONES TROUT … The trout
11 . at New Melones have been on and off , depending on the day and the weather , and have been biting more on the warmer days .
Many of the planters or smaller rainbows can be caught in 10-25 feet while trolling . The larger rainbows are down a little bit deeper in 25-35 feet , while the big brown trout have been caught all the way down in 80-90 feet .
BODEGA BAY … Anglers are scoring
12 . surf perch off of the beaches while using soft plastic baits and jerk baits . Rockfish season is scheduled to open April 1st .

13 . been inconsistent for most but the bite seems to picking up . The water temperatures are still in the mid 50 ’ s and when the temperatures rise the bite should get better .
