est Coast kayak anglers will once again have a route to qualify for National Championship-level events . In recent weeks , an announcement was made that the California B . A . S . S . Nation Kayak Series was formed , and with it , returns the opportunity for West Coast anglers to gain national recognition in a region that was left out of 2021 schedules for multiple national trails . The CA B . A . S . S . Nation Kayak Series announced a May 23rd one-day event on Clear Lake , as well as a 5-part series planned for 2022 . The top anglers ( 10 %) from the May 23rd event , arguably the best time of year to fish Clear Lake , will be invited to fish the 2022 B . A . S . S . Nation Kayak Championship . The 2022 series will also grant West Coast anglers opportunities to fish in the subsequent National Championship in 2023 . May 23rd on Clear Lake will provide anglers with a unique opportunity to double up their potential tournament winnings ;

with Wild West Bass Trail also holding their kayak trail event on Clear Lake the same day . Both tournament circuits are working to coordinate their formats to provide anglers the ability to fish both events simultaneously . “ This circuit came together after a majority of permits for 2021 were drawn , which put us in a tight spot for this year ,” said CA B . A . S . S . Nation Kayak director Tim Arthur . “ Wild West was generous enough to work with us to provide anglers the opportunity to fish one of the best lakes in the nation at one of the best times to fish it . Our goal moving forward is to offer tournaments on great bodies of water during their prime fishing windows , which is something that has not always been offered to anglers out here when there are National Championship spots on the line .” Arthur was confident that this approach combined with large payouts will
