Spotted Bass Lead Early Spring Angling Parade

OROVILLE – Spotted bass are providing the most consistent fishing at Lake Oroville .. King salmon are very scarce in the catches by trollers , but the fish coming in are mostly quality ones . “ One customer reported catching and releasing a lot of bass while fishing Robo Worms on drop shot rigs during his last trip to Ovoille ,” said Craig Newton of Willfish Bait and Tackle . “ The better fish were in the 2-1 / 2 to 3 pound range .” On his latest trolling adventure , Dave Koisten reported catching a 5.15 lb . king salmon and a bass . “ It was just like last weekend ; no bites until 9:45 and it was a bass .,” said Koistenen . “ The second bite

Trout and Bass Bites Heat Up

IONE – Bank fishing for trout has been solid at Pardee since opening day , Feb . 18 , while the bass fishing is heating up with the warming weather . The lake management stocked 2000 pounds of trout on Feb . 24 and 2000 pounds on Feb . 25 , a total of 4000 pounds . These plants follow the 6,000 pounds of trout planted the week before . During the latest plant , another 1,000 pounds of Mt . Lassen rainbows were stocked . Bank anglers continue to find success while fishing Power Bait , Mice Tails , nightcrawlers , spoons , jigs and other offerings in the main recreation area . Popular spots include Rainbow Point , Porcupine Point and Blue Heron Point , reported Tina Padilla of the Rocky Mountain Recreation Company . Big fish honors go to Felipe Herrera , who caught an amazing 6.10 pound rainbow trout . Felipe and his fishing buddy Mario caught full limits of rainbows while shore fishing at Pardee . John Hennecke Jr reported a solid day of bass fishing at Pardee . “ We had another fun Sunday chasing fish with my brother Todd Langston ,” he stated . “ There was not a lot of size today , but we caught a bunch . All fish came on the Strike King Fat Baby Finesse Worm on the Dart .” Due to lowering water levels , the Pardee Marina / Camp Store will remain closed and anchored in its current location at the Woodpile Cove .
