Keith Spain was trolling deep diver P-Line Predators and YoZuri ’ s on the West Bank of Rio Vista with Dalton Heryford and caught these nice stripers .

Dawn caught this nice bass while using a soft plastic bait while fishing at Lake Pardee . The bass fishing is pretty good and trout fishing is solid as well with the recent trout plants at Pardee Lake .

Trollers Battle Big Numbers of Trout

ANGELS CAMP – Tyrone Beard of T-Bone Tackle , after stocking us up on plenty of his numerous Pickle Lures , came back with a report of the trout bite being wide-open . Tyrone was using his own blue and green Pickle lure behind a Pickle lure dodger and tuna scent . Kyle Wise , “ Headhunter Sports Fishing ” Guide Service has been trolling New Melones with clients this past month , being quite successful in catching trout . You can contact Headhunter Sports Fishing @ 209-531-3966 KOKANEE . There have been reports of one or two small Kokanee being caught . BASS : With the water temperatures coming up on New Melones , bass are being caught higher up in the water column , from 40 ’ up to 10 ft . Anglers have been seeing some pre-spawn activity with some bass sunning in the shallow waters . The bite is good for anglers using plastic worms , swimbaits , and ned rigs . We are expecting it to break wide-open in the coming weeks . CRAPPIE : There has not been much news on the crappie bite , with one here and there scattered about the lake . New Melones Reservoir ’ s current water level is 940.05 and is up from the low of 916.5 posted mid-

October . Melones is down 147.95 ft . from full , dropping 1 ’ -3 ” in the last 30 days . Water temperature has been varying depending on the time of day from 55-56 degrees . Please keep your family , dogs , and crew safe with safe boating practice . ANYONE 35 years old or younger is required to have a California Boating Card on board any vessel they are navigating . From the Bureau of Reclamation : “ The Bureau of Reclamation is finalizing contingency plans that will impact recreation services at the start of recreation season ( April 1st ). For Glory Hole , the boat launching will continue at GH Point ( Angels Cove will remain closed unless we have a biblical proportion of precipitation that brings up the reservoir ). Day use areas will remain open , except for Osprey Pt . ( which is currently closed ). Ironhorse campground will remain open with a high probability that Big Oak will open at some point in April / early May – an electrical issue has been resolved . We ’ ve had many challenges and like the private sector it has been difficult to pick up employees over the last year and a half . Tuttletown will feel the impacts of low staffing more acutely come April . Please standby while we work through our present plans .” Reservations are required for camping .
