On his latest trolling adventure on the Delta , James Netzel of Tight Lines Guide Service reported , “ It was a tough day on the delta . There was mega-clear water for the Delta and not many fish were marked . The only good area was way upriver on the San Joaquin .” “ There was a lot of floating debris . We trolled deep divers in 15-16 ’ of water for our fish . The water temperature on the Sacramento side was 53 degrees . Upriver in the San Joaquin it was 54-55.5 degrees ,” he added . Meanwhile , Zack Medinas of Gatecrasher Fishing Adventures reported “ very good ” fishing for sturgeon on his latest Delta fishing adventure . Six anglers , all active or retired military , caught and released 7 sturgeon in the legal slot limit size . They used lamprey eel and salmon roe at Seal Island and the deep water off Pittsburg . “ They did a great job landing not 1 , but 2 triple hookups and one single ,” stated Medinas . On his previous trip , Medinas reported , “ Springers are here and we tapped out by 2 p . m . This is the time of year our sturgeon migrate from our bays , into the Delta and move further up river to spawn . During their trek we encounter some of the largest and highest numbers of fish in our system .” “ Our crew of Central Valley farmers smashed them today , catching and releasing a fish about every 20 minutes .
