They weighed in a five-fish limit of 20.92 pounds on day one and 18.50 pounds on day two , for a total of 39.42 pounds , reported Vince Harris , President of Angler ’ s Press . A Few Kokanee and Trout In The Mix

Shasta Lake- Shasta Lake is starting to warm up and the water temperature is around 80 ° in the morning and the lower the lake level sitting at 126 ’ to crest . The good news is we ’ re starting to pickup a few kokanee while trolling for trout but the trout fishing still isn ’ t a wide open bite . The best fishing is usually before 10am but then the fish definitely start to go deeper which is around the 75 ’ -90 ’ range . The bite hopefully will be changing soon . We ’ re seeing just little shad balls but not seeing the shad in the stomachs of the fish . It is important to continue to change the color of your lures because the normal colors are not producing as

they once did . In fact , some of the best colors are the ones we usually pass on . At times , some of the shad colors are still working , but colors that don ’ t look like anything that you ’ re ever going see have been getting quite a few fish in the box .

Trollers Bag Kokanee Limits

TRUCKEE – Boaters continue to catch limits of quality kokanee salmon while trolling an array of offerings at Stampede Reservoir . “ We had a great morning bite until around 8 and hit a wall at 24 kokanee ,” reported James Netzel of Tight Lines Guide Service after his latest trip . “ I moved to where I would normally start for my late morning trip and quickly limited the boat while using Paulina Peak Tackle crack spinners in watermelon , pink n purple , and orange . We used short leaders at 8-10 ”. We trolled at a depth of 40 ’ -60 ’ at a speed at 1.1- 1.3 mph .” “ My second trip started at 10 am . It was very slow fishing , with only 3 the first hour . Then we started marking a few as the wind picked up . I was prepared and made sure to save some battery for the wind .” “ The bite really took off when the waves started crashing over the side . Our best depth was 55 ’ -70 ’. We used the same speed , colors , and presentation as the early morning trip ,” he added .
