Sul ’ s not the only one to catch big catfish at Amador lately . Shawn and Larry McPherson caught 6 quality catfish weighing a total of 49 pounds on their latest venture to the lake . The two big ones were both 15 pounds each . The anglers used anchovies from the far corner of the dam , according to the Lake Amador Resort . Finally , Debbie and Dave Hall fished with chicken liver to entice two big catfish to nearly 9 pounds while fishing in the RV Cove . The trout planting season is now over at Lake Amador until the water temperature cools down in mid to late October .

BERRYESSA LAKE

Trollers Nail Trout , Kings , Kokanee and Bass

NAPA – A quick scouting trip on Lake Berryessa paid off in a major way , according to Nate Kelxh of Big Nate ’ s Guide Service . “ Big kokanee , trout , kings and Bass were all on tap for us this morning ,” he stated . “ We released all the bass , trout and smaller kokes to be caught at a later date . Paulina Peak Tackle platinum flutterbugs dominated the catches behind P lite dodgers at depths to 97 feet .” “ We ’ ve been catching a lot of trout lately at Berryessa averaging 15 to 18 inches long ,” said Rob Reimers . “ We ’ re been trolling with Paulina Peak Spinner Minnows at 35 to 45 feet deep for trout .” On recent trips , he also reported anywhere from 3 to 8 kokanee . “ The biggest fish measured 17-1 / 4 inches and the fish averaged about 15 inches ,” he revealed . “ The trout and kokanee are really fat and healthy looking . The kokanee are hitting the same lures as the trout are . We ’ ve been fishing mostly around Skier ’ s Cove and Big Island lately .” On his latest trip to the lake , he reported boating 3 kokanee , 8 trout and 2 bass for 4 anglers .

“ The bass bite at Berryessa continues to be a little tough , but you can still catch them with a little patience ,” said Don Paganelli of

Paganelli ; s Bass Fishing Experience . “ The spoon bite has been fair , but most of the fish we are catching are on drop shot rigs worked in 20 to 25 feet on main lake points . The top 20 feet of water is loaded with bait almost anywhere you go on the lake .” The launch ramp at Cappell Cove remains closed due to drought conditions and receding water levels . The launch ramp will re-open when lake levels rise . The parking lot and small picnic areas at the Capell Cove will remain open . Additionally , hand launching of kayaks , canoes and other small craft will continue to be permitted .

DOBBINS – Want to experience sizzling kokanee action ? It ’ s hard to beat the fishing at Bullards Bar . “ We experienced a hell of a kokanee bite on Bullards Bar on our latest trip there ,” said Brett Brady of Bare Bones Guide Service . “ Doubles and triples were pretty common . Pink and orange kokanee lies trolled at 60 to 80 feet produced the fish .” The fish Brady ’ s been catching are in the 12 to 14 inch range . Anglers need to get away from the smaller fish that are showing at shallower depths . Rob Reimers of Rustic Rob ’ s Guide Service confirmed the top-notch fishing at Bullards Bar . “ On my latest trip there , Denise Loo , her mom , niece and myself boated 40 kokanee . About two thirds of the fish were in the 12-1 / 2 to 13-1 / 2 inch range , while the rest were in the 10-1 / 2 to 11 inch class . We trolled with Brad ’ s Kokanee Cut Pugs and Spinner Minnows anywhere from 35 to 75 feet deep ,” stated Reimers .
